I recently met with representatives from MBIE with regard to the Unit Titles Act review. They have advised that the project has been approved and it is intended that the UTA consultation document will be released in the New Year. The changes in the political environment in the last week have unfortunately meant delays in the circulation, however we are assured the project remains high on the Ministers agenda and I will continue to be actively involved in the consultation process on behalf of both Property 101 Group and SCA(NZ).
It was interesting to hear the Hon Nick Smith speak at the recent Property Council Residential Development Summit, where he clearly identified the areas of the legislation that need to be addressed and shortcomings highlighted in our working group report and submissions. MBIE will run workshops for interested parties early 2017 and we will continue to update you accordingly.
